Cama, 3192 16th St.
San Francisco, CA 94103 (at 16th and Guerrero)
Thursday, October 14, 7–9 p.m.

One-year Anniversary: Come celebrate one year of InsideOut Travel Magazine—by budget travelers for budget travelers. We'll have copies of "The Sex Lives of Cannibals" for sale.

Special Drinks: Thanks to Smirnoff, there will be a delightful yet potent $2 Smirnoff Apple cocktail available for all of us thrifty drinkers. At those prices, can you afford not to come?

Special Guest: J. Maarten Troost, first-time author, will be there to sign copies of his recently published book, “The Sex Lives of Cannibals,” and to chat with other travelers. The book tells the tale of Troost and his girlfriend as they embark on a two-year journey to a small island in the South Pacific. Expecting a vacation in paradise, the couple instead found themselves fighting off stray dogs and enduring the one song on the island—“La Macarena”—for the umpteenth time.

Special Place: The celebration will take place in the recently-opened Cama bar, in the heart of the Mission district. Inspired by the bed-like décor of supper clubs in Rome, Amsterdam and Bangkok, owner Santiago Rodriguez designed Cama to feature voyeuristic glimpses into the bed chambers of “famous” personalities and a “Jet Lag” cocktail will be available to InsideOut Travel Magazine supporters all evening long at happy hour prices.

Gifts: We know, on your birthday you're supposed to get gifts, not give them, but that's just the type of people we are. Early comers and smooth talkers will get a free drink, or two.
