A Traveler’s Necessity: The First Aid Kit |
by Sean EnrightThere are three things that every traveler should carry with them to ensure a safe and successful trip abroad. The first two are brief and for most of us, common sense. Everyone should carry spare clothing, preferably some of which is clean. You only know this is a should rather than a must after you’ve been stuck sitting on a bus or a train next to a fellow traveler who stinks to high heaven and has nothing but a small satchel in his or her possession. |

Needless to say, this is not the person you want to borrow a pair of shorts from. Secondly, everyone should carry an assortment of hygienic products, such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, a bottle of shampoo, and a bar of soap. Again, I say should rather than must because, like some of those guys with small satchels across their backs, there are occasionally those minimalist travelers who forgo even the most basic of basics. Finally is the all-important first aid kit. Everyone should have one, and a well-supplied one at that. Of course, the minimalist might say otherwise. But, I’m not a minimalist.
A basic first aid kit should include: • Bandages, band-aids, and other wound dressings, such as gauze, for unexpected minor accidents. |
