This mosque is located near the Luxor Temple. I knew that to enter a mosque, I had to have proper head covering and dress, so I was carrying around a scarf, but on this day I had left it behind in the hotel. But a man working at the mosque led me up the stairs saying “welcome, welcome.” I explained and motioned to him that I didn’t have a head covering and pointed at my bare arms, but he kept saying “ok, ok,” and led me into the mosque. I couldn’t believe that I was allowed inside. He gave me a tour and let me take a few photos inside. Photo and text by Karna Kurata, Karna Kurata Photography. |
